Unix was completely in c language. It was written by Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritche at AT & T Bell's Labs. It was originally written to satisfy the condition of multi tasking and multi user ability.
But its a failure at that time. Later a flavor of UNIX called Linux was released. Linux is almost similar to Unix but not Unix code.
- Unix is not a free open source operating system whereas Linux is a free open source software system.
- Unix is fixed to some organisations and Universities. Whereas Linux is open source any one can download from net and can use it. We can make also changes to existing operating system. But we must register to do this thing.
- Both Linux and Unix operating systems are virus free operating systems. Make sure that virus free means even though virus attacks on the system different members from different areas work simultaneously to remove the virus file. Identification of virus file is easy because Linux is free open source software
- examples of UNIX operating system are :Solaris UNIX, AIX, HP Unix and BSD are some examples.
- example of LINUX operating system are:Red Hat and Ubuntu are few examples of Linux operating system.
